Accredited Medical Centers for Seamen & OFWs 2023

Accredited medical centers play a crucial role in the employment of our seafarers and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). 

They are responsible for conducting pre-employment medical examinations (PEMEs) and periodic medical examinations (PMEs) for our “heroes”.

Before they can work abroad, they have to pass the medical exams.

But there are so many of them and anyone might fall for scams that are not accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

This article lists 167 accredited medical clinics throughout the country. I arranged them by region and province, with their names in alphabetical order. You will also find their addresses here.

Types of Accredited Medical Centers

There are two types of medical centers in the Philippines that are accredited both by MARINA and DOH. These are Government-owned and Private medical clinics.

Government medical centers are just what they say. They are owned and run by the taxpayer’s money. 

You might think that there are a bunch of them throughout the country but there are actually two of them. Both are located in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, private medical centers are owned by people, groups of people, or corporations. They are the majority of this list.

Government Medical Centers

Here are the only two government-owned medical centers accredited by MARINA and DOH.

The original list from MARINA is quite confusing. It highlights 165 private medical centers and an additional 2 for governments giving a total of 167. 

However, when I double-checked the list, it only added up to 156 accredited medical centers for seamen and OFWs in the country with 156 from private clinics.

Anyway, I hope this list will help you confirm the genuity of the clinics you’re planning to undergo for your PEME or filing for your COP.

We know that there are stories and issues about some of these centers but most are seafarer-friendly.
