Love Across the Ocean: A Seafarer’s Long Distance Love Poem

by | Last updated Nov 24, 2023 | Seaman's Life | 0 comments

Love has a remarkable way of inspiring creativity, especially when distance separates two hearts. As a seafarer sailing across vast oceans, my heart finds solace in expressing the depths of my affection through the written word.

Sometimes, I use the old ways of sending love letters via conventional snail mail at post offices while in Portugal, Spain, or Ireland. It’s a part of my shore leave routine. I also get to buy greeting cards and send them to the woman I love.

If you are a seafarer reading this, you should try this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

LDR Poem a Seaman Can Relate

Inspired by long-distance relationships, some people find their creativity thinking about their loved ones on the other side of the globe.

Here’s a poem by Janna Rutty about LDR that every seaman can relate to.

Far Away Lover

I lay in my bed and think about you
I love you so much I don’t know what to do
I feel your warmth at my side
The pain in my heart moves to my eyes
So far away yet always so near
You are the reason I am still here.

I await the time when we can talk
I await the times we can finally hold hands and walk
To feel you for real… so close to me
The happiest person in the world is what you would make me.

Your eyes shine like a million suns
You shine more brightly than anyone
Your smile so sweet can’t help but make me smile
It stops my world even for a little while
I await the time when my hand is in yours
To hear you say those 3 little words.

There are still no words I can say to describe
My heart it aches and my eyes they cry
But when we talk my heart flies
you always wipe away the tears I cry.

Even though you aren’t here
And I miss you so much my dear
I’ll love you forever and ever
I’ll always love you my far away lover.

My Own Love Poem Composition

While the waves carry me far from the shores where my beloved resides, the connection we share transcends the boundaries of time and space. It is in these moments of solitude, surrounded by the boundless sea, that I find myself penning verses of a long-distance love poem.

Not only love poems but many other things like the 99 Reasons Why I Love Working On Ships. But now that love is in the air five months after February, here is my own love poem composition as a long-distance lover.

This is a testament to the power of love and the enduring spirit that keeps our hearts entwined.

Love Poem Across Oceans

Amidst the sea’s embrace, I stand,
A seafarer in distant land,
Across the ocean, love’s in flight,
A poem penned for you tonight.

Each wave that crashes, echoes true,
My heart’s sweet longing, love for you,
With every line that I compose,
My love for you forever grows.

In starlit nights, I find my way,
A beacon shines, where love will stay,
Though oceans vast between us part,
You hold the key to my heart.

Our love, a lighthouse shining bright,
Guiding me through the darkest night,
Bound by love that knows no end,
Forever, my beloved friend.

So, as I sail ‘neath moonlit skies,
In every verse, my love belies,
Together, though we’re far apart,
You’re etched forever in my heart.

Being in love can do many wonders and this just scratches the surface. After a tired daywork or duty, writing this love poem gives me renewed energy.

I try to do different things from the mainstream masses. While many send copy-pasted images with love quotes to their woman, I tend to create one that’s straight from my heart.

What’s the recent love poem you sent to your girl?

May the winds be in your favor.
